Key Functions



Responsibilities of Claims Engineer

a) The Claims Engineer has a wide array of diverse duties and responsibilities which must be performed on a daily basis. The Claims Engineer has a role in many aspects of the business and their exact duties and responsibilities will depend on which task needs priority attention.

b) Responsible in attending to Accounts assigned to you. This means, attending meetings, taking/ making phone calls to them, writing correspondences; engaging them in activities that will bring more business to AWSP

c) You are also expected to visit at least 2 dealers (old customers) and 4 dealers (new customers) per month to keep AWSP’s Customer Portfolio active & continuously growing. Upon dealer visits, you are expected to briefly introduce our new products and services (may/ may be through the assistance of our Warranty Specialist and his/her presentation). At the end of the day, a Meeting Report should be prepared and sent to your superior the following day.

d) May also be responsible for performing clerical duties on a daily basis. Tasks such as answering phone calls regarding Claims & filing and typing up Claims documents is a daily occurrence for your department which the Claims Engineer may need to handle. Depending on the business requirement for the day, these may be simple tasks which take a few minutes or lengthy ones which take a few hours time.

e) A Claims Engineer is often responsible for listening to complaints as well. These complaints may come from service advisors, dealer principals, parts vendors, or outside parties (such as customers and policy holders) who have issues with the business itself. It is up to the Claims Engineer to listen attentively - address the situation and come up with complete resolutions to the problem. Some minor issues may be addressed solely by the Claims Engineer whereas others will need to be addressed together with Senior Management.



Other responsibilities of an Engineer.

1. Process the claims as per the terms and conditions of the contract with the customer

2. Minimize the cost of repairs

3. Conduct claims inspection

4. Filing of authorized claims in a file as necessary

5. Filing of rejected claims in a file as necessary

6. Update the information on the claims on the system (GAPEWS Software)

7. Print the Claim status for each dealer at the end of each month and follow up

8. Collect the invoices every 10th and 25th of the month and pass it for payment after verifying everything is according to document requirements. (Check discounts, Faxed approval form, Invoice, Calculations)

9. Attach the Original approval form from the dealer file along with the documents received from the dealer and prepare the payment form.

10. After the payment by AWS-Accounting & FPACI, a separate file is maintained for paid claims by month

11. Submission of Claims Bordereaux to HQ is every 2nd and 17th of the month.

12. Visit all workshops in the territory at least once in a month. And see if everything is going fine and smooth. If there are any issues, it has to be addressed as soon as possible

13. Develop a cordial environment with all the people in the dealership whatever maybe the case. Address dealer complaints systematically and cordially

14. Stats of each dealer by contract year have to verified before authorizing each claim

15. If you feel the dealer/importer/ manufacturer needs a training course on the on-line claims submitting process, coordinate immediately with Admin.

16. Any related technical information you receive, must be passed on to other Claims Engineers

17. Courtesy visits to workshops not yet in our client list (4x per month), to explore possible business tie-ups.

18. Review and verify questionnaires submitted by clients

19. Collects defective spare parts from the dealer and quarterly bid out

20. Develop and implement claims flow by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes and/or improvements when needed.

21. Attend weekly ManCom meetings with Country Manager

22. Perform other duties as assigned



Skills and Qualifications





1.Must be a good problem-solver. Even if the Claims Engineer cannot solve the problem on their own, they must know who to go to so that the problem can be solved by someone, if not themselves.

Must also be personable in nature. Since these are individuals who need to deal with others, both inside and outside of the office environment, it is pertinent for Claims Engineers to be good conversationalists. They must be at ease while conversing with others as this will enable them to get the job done ( ex. Dealer visits, selling our services, solving a problem, or closing a deal) in the most efficient way possible.
Good computer skills are another positive trait for Claims Engineers to possess as they will be working with softwares (emailing, excel, word, MS PowerPoint, GAP software) frequent basis. Those who have good computer skills will be able to get the job done as quickly as possible.
Must possess good multitasking skills. Frequently a Claims Engineer will feel himself being pulled in every different direction so it is important for that he knows how to do multiple things at one time.
Lastly, should be leaders by nature. They should be comfortable with filling a lead position and be able to resolve all problems which come their way. By being a natural leader, the Claims Engineer will be able to complete their daily duties in a timely and efficient manner.
Excellent communication skills. Must speak, read, and write fluently in English & Filipino. Able to converse with colleagues and officers based in Headquarters (Dubai) and other AWS branches located in other countries.
Should have a keen knowledge of the automotive, gadget, financing businesses in the Philippines. Good networking skills.
Must be a college graduate.
Must have worked for at least 5 years (in any of the following industries: dealership, retail store, technical sales, private banking, insurance, auto industry)
Willing to travel abroad for a period of 2-3 weeks training, if necessary. All training-related expenses will be shouldered by AWS.
Must be willing to submit (3) character references, full medical records, NBI Clearance and drug screening test.
