Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Chief Resident Engineer in the execution of his/her tasks.
Inspect regularly the contractor's plant, staff availability, and safety measures, etc. and ensure they are adequate and in accordance with the terms and conditions specified in civil works contracts.
Administer and supervise the repair and maintenance work on a day to day basis and undertake inspections prior to and during the work.
Ensure the CW2 contractor complies with the agreed implementation schedule and assist whenever appropriate.
Maintain regular meetings with local communities and encourage the CW2 contractor to ensure participation of the local community, including women, inundertaking minor works, wherever appropriate.

Approve all survey checks and ensure that the work conforms to the specified requirements.
Identify environmentally sensitive and protected areas which could be affected directly or indirectly when sourcing materials for construction work.
Monitor the compliance of the CW2 contractor's testing program with the regime specified in the Contract and determine whether: (i) materials used in the road formation, subgrade, base courses, road surfaces, concrete and elsewhere in the works meet specified standards; (ii) the repair and maintenance works are of the required quality, and (iii) minimum Service Levels are maintained.
Ensure road drainage structures such as side drains, culverts and cross drains provide effective control of surface water and promote a stable moisture regime in the road fonnation. Promote the use of best practice methods in the design and construction of drainage structures and for controlling drainage generally.
Evaluate the CW2 contractor's erosion management methods and erosion monitoring programs, including rehabilitation measures and revegetation of surfaces, and, as necessary, supervise the adoption of best practice measures to minimize loss of topsoil from the contractor's construction activities.
Evaluate and make recommendations to the Chief Resident Engineer on the CW2 contractor's claims, disputes, contract time extensions, variations and other changes within and outside the contract.
He shall do his tasks in close consultation with the PMO Project Manager OPCR 2 and Project Manager of RIC.

Requirements:
Must have a Civil Engineering degree and possesses wide experience as a resident engineer in the design and construction supervision of roads and bridges.
The Resident Engineers shall have a minimum of 15 years ' experience overall and 5 years as a resident engineer on similar road projects.
Willing to be based in Papua New Guinea for 44 months employment.
