Description

Position: Full-time
Location: Remote (Work from Home)
Shift: Graveyard shift

We are seeking a creative and motivated Writing Specialist who is intimately familiar with creative writing—specifically essay writing, prompt-based narrative writing, and other similar creative nonfiction writing. Our Writing Specialist will work closely with our College Admissions Consulting
Team for the essays that the students need to write for their college applications.

This position will require a high level of skill and flexibility, and you will also be required to do research on a vast array of topics, depending on the interests and activities of each student. Commitment will be expected during the college season and our editors are expected to work around deadlines. There will also be opportunities to be actively involved in all stages of essay drafting. This position is outstanding for professional growth and can eventually lead to a long-term career. Based on performance, this position will have additional perks (e.g., company retreats—which this past year was in Singapore!)

If you are interested in helping students across different backgrounds strengthen their applications and achieve their goal of entering their dream college or university, we would love for you to join our team!

Responsibilities:
Writing and Editing: The Writing Specialist will brainstorm with the College Admissions Team’s Consultants about the direction of the essay. The Writing Specialist will be asked to edit the students’ rough drafts.
○ The Writing Specialist will be asked to follow feedback made regarding:
■ Grammar
■ Clarity
■ Style
■ Flow
■ Structure
■ Word Count
○ Essays are reviewed and revised through extensive rounds of edits
Research: Depending on the students’ interest and profile, the Writing Specialist will research different topics to strengthen their work.
Business Development & Administration: During the off-season, the Writing Specialist can expect to work on projects that contribute to the growth of the team and company overall.
High-Level Skill: We do not allow the use of any AI tools such as ChatGPT or Bard because AI-generated content will automatically disqualify a student’s application. If the Writing Specialist is found to be using AI tools, termination is effective immediately.

Eligibility:
1. Exceptional English verbal and writing skills with a strong grip on grammar
2. Experience working for an education consulting company specializing in college admissions
is preferred but not required
3. Graduated from a 4-year degree program at a top, reputable university
4. Experience working during PST hours is preferred but not required
5. Can edit and write skillfully without the use of AI tool
